There were 32 contenders for the 2021 Netherlands’ National Volunteer Award. The prize went to Humanitas for Get a Grip, a project in which we cooperate with them.
We are delighted to announce that our long-time partner Humanitas, a large Dutch NGO whose volunteers make a difference to the lives of thousands of people every year, has been awarded this year’s National Volunteer Award for Get a Grip. United Way cooperates in this project with support from our sponsors Total Energies and Principal Foundation. What makes Get a Grip special is that it mobilizes volunteers to teach young people to manage their personal finances.
During a festive event streamed online, Humanitas was presented with the award, which included an amount of €7,500. In his address, jury member and mayor of The Hague Jan van Zanen mentioned the inclusivity of the project: “Inclusion is about being allowed and enabled to be part of society.”
