Thanks to Oranje Fonds and the city of Maastricht, our mental aid project in the
Netherlands’ southernmost city is to be expanded

At the end of April, Alderman Jeroen Hoenderkamp, whose responsibilities include various
aspects in the social domain, received a delegation from United Way led by Executive
Director Machiel Salomons. The object of the meeting was to discuss the possibilities to
broaden the scope of the therapeutic counselling available to Ukrainian refugees in and
around Maastricht. After the meeting all parties expressed their satisfaction with the progress
made.

The cooperation with Maastricht, often described as the Netherlands’ most Burgundian city,
furthers United Way’s policy for the nationwide rollout of Healing the Mind, its psychological
aid programme, whose success underscores the continuing need for this kind of support.
